Nice house but location not for me
Date of Stay
Jun 30, 2015
This was a nice house inside but definitely needs some upgrades to appliances and it was too secluded for me. You were literally in the woods. Great for campers but was disappointed with the location and not being able to swim in the river as the ownerl listed. The picture of the road to the house was very deceiving also. The path is a little scary before you get to the house but we made the best of it. The owners were good and they responded quickly if you had any problems so that was a plus. The view of the river was beautiful to wake up to in the morning. I would rent from them again if they had another house in a different location.
Katteen, We feel honored you drove all the way from Virginia to stay at Magnolia Bluff Plantation. I'm sorry your expectations were not met. Please allow me to respond to some of your remarks. The major appliances (Stove/Range, Refrigerator & Dishwasher are all 5 years old. The spider crack on the stove was the result of an accident with a previous tenant. We had ordered a new cook top and it is being replaced. It did not come in time to repair before your stay. All of the small appliances (toaster, blender, mixer, coffee maker) are new and we have had no other complaints. The ladder on the swim platform was replaced after your departure as well. You are accurate in your description of the secluded property. The rural setting is a blessing to some people, allowing them to get away from crowds and enjoy a relaxing time with peace and quiet. There are no "street lights", only "lightening bugs". I wished you would have taken advantage of the kayaks we've made available for our guests. You would have seen some beautiful parts of the river. I will update the pictures of the swim platform, so you can see the repairs that were made. I wish you would have contacted us during your stay so that we could have helped share more information on how to enjoy your time on the river. Thanks for your comments, we will use them to make SURE the stay of our guests is improved.

Great time with family

Sarah was so helpful. We loved our stay. As one previous review, states the house is secluded but that is part of its charm. It was perfect for my large family. We made great memories. Great backyard area and deck to enjoy early mornings or late evenings.
Cindy, It was a pleasure to host you and your family. I love seeing all the pictures you posted on Facebook of the memories you created. Please come again soon.

deep, deep into the woods
Date of Stay

I, with two other families, spent a New Year in the Satilla River House. Sarah and James were so nice to allow all of us – 6 adults and 6 kids enjoys their property deep in the woods (BTW – the directions to the house were excellent). Kids mostly enjoyed fishing and adults either joined them or went kayaking (kayaks available in the house). We explored the neighborhood a bit – went to the Federica Fort and Jekyll Island (about 1 hour ride). Cold evenings we spent in front of fireplace, thanks to the wood provided by owners. House is big and spacious, bank bed is very good idea. Kitchen has all small appliances, pots, pans, etc. allowing us to cook and even bake. We missed only one thing – corkscrew :-) Most at all – Sarah is taking good care of the guest. She answer all my question very quickly and provided extra info.
Dorota, It was a pleasure to have you and the other guests. We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay. You took great care of our home. You are welcome back anytime. I'm heading out now to pick up that cork screw.
